Isn't the killing of Osama overrated?

Osama is a has been. He may still be spiritual leader but he does not have much control over al Qaeda troops like before since al Qaeda has been franchised and outsourced to many global groups in many countries. Also after recent Egypt and Middle East uprisings, his image as a rebel and freedom fighter is basically gone. So why are all the media and world celebrating his death when all this will result in backlash from the current al Qaeda troops who will take vengeance by retaliating with more attacks on innocent people
