My ex fiance cheated on me...?

A year and a half ago my fiance cheated on me and I broke off the wedding. Yesterday I saw him for the first time in a long time at a mutual friends wedding and he came to talk to me and said he regrets it. We talked for a while and then we went off to our friends. Later he got the DJ to play our song and asked me to dance with him and I did. He drove me home after and asked if he can call me tomorrow. I think my family would think I'm an idiot and be kind of upset if I took him back. I think I really still love him and I believe he regrets it but would I look like a huge idiot getting back together with him after what he did? I just want some opinions.
